This week we'll be joined by the Normans in their historic costumes. Have you ever heard of Empress Matilda? Some say she was England’s rightful queen, while others believe her cousin Stephen deserved the throne. Between July and August 1141, Matilda besieged Winchester and even set fire to Wolvesey Castle on the 2nd of August!
Come to City Museum and meet the townsfolk of Winchester during this anarchic period! See them demonstrating a variety of medieval crafts and skills, including textiles, hunting, surgery, weaponry, and even live combat demonstrations!
